Differences Between iPhone 3G and Original iPhone

Last year marked the release of one of the most stylish mobile devices ever to hit the markets. The iPhone didn't do much more than any other advanced mobile phone, but it did it with a beautiful display and with touch functionality. Safari, Youtube, email, calenders, and all kinds of other features were at the user's fingertips. The drawbacks were that the phone only was available on AT&T, it was not a 3G device, so it's internet access was slow, and it cost $400, which was a little expensive for a 2G device at the time. This didn't stop the phone from selling well, however, and Apple quickly promised that a 3G version would hit shelves soon. Well the time has come, and the 3G iPhone ships on July 11th.

There are several differences between the #g iPhone and the regular iPhone. For starters, the phone is a 3G device, which means it will be faster than the last iPhone when it comes to data transfer, and this is an important fact when looking at a phone that relies so heavily on the internet. Next, the phone will have a non-recessed, universal head phone jack, so you won't have to use Apple headphones or an adapter. Also, the phone has an assisted GPS feature so that you can do things like get directions and geotag photos without any hassle. Finally, storage capacity has gone up to 8 gigs on the black model and as much as 16 gigs on the white model, the 16 gig version also comes in black. All of this comes in at $200, less than the cost of the original phone. However, the monthly fees associated with the phone make it a little more expensive over the long term, but it is affordable for a 3G phone.  The final difference lies in the fact that the phone must be activated in store, something not true with the original. So if you held off on the original iPhone because it wasn't 3G, now's your chance to get your hands on the phone's faster big brother.
